Steam: Smart Business Decisions

The company providing download-able pc games online seem to be in the spirit of giving this holiday season with their sales on almost all major game titles right now until January 3rd. A couple of days ago you could buy Grand Theft Auto 4 on pc for £4.99, which is a huge bargain on an epic game that is one of the highest rated overall video games in history. I would have bought it myself if I hadn't already bought it a month ago.

Although I have no information to predict how many sales Steam have had lately, but I would assume it must be more than they usually get. They definitely know how to make great business decisions. They might even be having money fights right now, lol.

I bought Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box for the same price as GTA 4 was yesterday. It's such a simple and easy tactic for them to sell these games for such a low price as they likely pay little to no cost on getting download-able games available for sale in the first place.

Also, the way they are selling GTA 4 and Burnout Paradise for £4.99 for only 24 hours is assumably a smart business move as well. As it is a brilliant tactic that basically get you to buy the game on the spot unless you want to miss out on a great bargain that will rarely occur.

These business decisions are much smarter than Sony are doing with the PSP Go right now, as it remains too high a price for something that can't do half of what the iPod touch can while at almost the same price. So, it shall remain one of worst selling hand-held or console systems, if not the worst selling in recent history.
