Brandon Jennings: All Star In The Making

I haven't a clue what the expectations for the Milwaukee Buck's starting point guard were, but he's obviously turned a lot of heads in the last few weeks. Dropping 55 points in a recent game against the Golden State Warriors is certainly impressive, especially after already recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists in his NBA debut.

He's the youngest player to have scored 50 points or above in an NBA game, he could be the next Allen Iverson. He'll easily be the rookie of the year, even if Blake Griffin was healthy right now, would he be able to put up those numbers? The Clippers missed out big in this year's draft. It's funny to think of how Michael Jordan was drafted third in his draft year and how he went on to so much success with the Bulls and became the best ever.

It's easy to sympathize with Greg Oden, he probably wishes he could turn back the clock and make a bigger impact during his rookie season as he was the number 1 draft pick only a few years ago. However, he wasn't the one named rookie of the year at the end of the season. The honor went to the number 2 pick Kevin Durant.

The bottom line is that it's great to see such fresh faces at the point guard position this season. Jennings is one of many new faces who can bring even more excitement to NBA each week. Tyreke Evans, Stephen Curry, Jennings, Jonny Flynn and others will be key parts of their franchises for the foreseeable future or the next few years. And while Chris Paul rehabs his sprained ankle Darren Collison has some big shoes to fill in his absence.
