EA Sports vs 2K

I'm amazed at how many issues and complaints I've read about in the official 2K Sports Forums concerning NBA 2K10's lackluster debut recently. I assumed the game might have the usual unreliable online servers like the prior game (2K9) had.

However, I had no idea the problems could be as bad as they have been from what I've read. People have said they can't play with their rookie created player using the draft combine released before the game came out since the 2K servers are never up long enough to upload the character.

Some have complained their opposing players wouldn't show up while playing offline, which I thought was kind of funny. Others have said their game is unplayable because of the frame rate and some have had their consoles crash while loading a game.

2K need to get their act together. Although, they have said they're releasing a patch in two weeks to fix the problems, that still isn't good enough. Why should the supposedly best basketball game ever made have that many problems to begin with?

For the last year I have enjoyed playing online on EA Sports servers on NBA Live 09 and yesterday I played a few 5 on 5 games with other players on Live 10. Since I play video games primarily for online play, I wasn't disappointed whatsoever.

2K Sports can always try making the best looking graphics and gameplay each year for NBA, NHL and MLB (although it's not released in the UK). But if they can't supply any online play, why would I buy it?

Obviously most video gamers would tell you graphics and gameplay are two of the most important things ahead of online play, but I beg to differ. I agree to an extent, but why do people always come back to Halo and Call of Duty? Online play, not only the single player.

I was considering buying 2K10 on PC anyway, because it's not on a console. Therefore, surely having the least risk with it for a cheaper cost. But I've already seen people on the forums with a couple of problems who got the game before its official release.

If there is also going to be a patch released for the PC version, I might wait to read the forums again in a week or two. Until then, I'll be upgrading my recently bought computer to Windows 7 for free, although the PC was almost £500 in the first place, lol.
